The T'ai Chi Ch'uan Form is a series of graceful movements developed in China over thousands of years as one facet of a martial art, designed to develop and retain litheness and intensity of movement, concentration and fighting reflexes. Martial artists discovered effective variations and handed these fighting techniques down secretly within their families.

Only in the last fifty years has T'ai Chi Ch'uan become known to the west, at a time when many of the old family styles and sets are disappearing because of difficulties during the Chinese Cultural revolution and changing lifestyles.

The health benefits known to the Chinese have been tested and endorsed by western medicine, including lowering blood pressure, improving bone density, heart rate, balance, arthritis prevention, and promoting relaxation.
